Type of lesson: review lesson
Teaching Procedure:
Step1. Lead in by discussing in groups: what do you about the different cultures in different countries?
Discuss in groups for five minutes. During the time, each group exchanges their ideas in groups. Then sum the best ones to show in front of the class.
Step2. Finish the exercises on Page 49. At the same time, write the difficult ones on the blackboard.
Step3. Come to “Grammar in Use”. Solve the problems on the blackboard.  
Ask the students to make up dialogues with the main grammars or sentences.
The attributive clauses:
S1: I like the skirt my mother bought for me yesterday.
S2: He doesn’t mind whose coat it is.
The object complement:
S3: Keep the door open. It’s hot inside.
S4: Don’t keep me waiting.
宾语补足语:
  1. 在表示心理状态的动词后作宾语补足语。
  这类动词有:consider, think, believe, discover, find, imagine, judge, suppose, prove等。这类动词后的不定式通常是"to be+形容词或名词"结构,think, consider, find后的to be常可省略。
We consider him (to be) a good teacher. 
我们认为他是一个好老师。
  He proved that theory (to be) very important. 
  他证明那个理论是很重要的。
  I thought her (to be) nice and honest the first time I met her.
  我第一次见到她的时候就认为她人很好,很诚实。
  2. 在表示情感状态的动词后作宾语补足语。
  这类动词有:love, like, prefer, hate, want, wish, expect等。
  I'd prefer you to leave him alone. 我希望你不要打扰他。
  I don't want there to be any trouble.我不想有任何麻烦。
  3. 注意:hope, demand, suggest等动词后面不能接不定式作宾语补足语。
  I hope you can give me a hand.我希望你能帮我一把。
  I wish you to give me a hand.我希望你能帮我一把。

他要求我们出席会议。
  Mr Li suggested that she should not go there alone. 
  李先生建议她不要独自去那里。
宾语补足语是用来补充说明宾语的,双宾语是同等地位的宾语,二者在本质上是不同的。句子中的pink是形容词做宾语补足语。能够充当宾补的还有宾语补足语的大致有:不定式,现在分词,过去分词,形容词,副词,介宾短语等。一般情况下,宾补通常紧跟在宾语之后。
  比如:
  I find learning English difficult.(difficult是形容词做宾补)
  I saw the kite up and down. (up and down是副词做宾补)
  Tom made the girl cry. (cry是省略不定式符号to的动词不定式)
  *常跟复合宾语的动词有:call,name,make,think,find,leave,keep,nominate(任命),choose,elect(选举),define(定义),regard, see, recognize,treat, take,consider, look up, refer to, accept, acknowledge,describe,depict(描述),represent(表现出),declare(宣称),denounce, employ(雇佣), use, show, organize, express
Step4. Come to “Speaking the Language”.
Finish the dialogue.
Make up similar dialogues and act it out in front of the class.
Ask several groups to speak in front of the class. Praise the good ones. At the same time, point out their mistakes.
Step5.Come to “Putting it All Together”.
1. Finish the exercise in Part A.
2.Finish Part B in groups.
Divide the class into several groups of three or four. Then discuss the following questions in groups.
Make a list of the things that threaten your culture.
What you personally will do to keep your culture?
Share ideas with another group. Do they have the same opinions?
Step6. Work in groups.
Finish Part C in groups. Talk about good Chinese table manners and write them down. Exchange the ideas in groups. Then exchange the ideas with another group.
Step7. Homework
Summary:
Cultures are important to one country. It represents the peoples’ spirit in this country. So we must work hard to keep it. Some old cultures need to protect. When we go abroad to study further, we must work hard to keep our cultures, too.

Sometimes, people are not clear about what kind of food is healthy, and what kind of food may do harm to our health. The USDA has prepared a food guide to help people learn about which kind of food is the healthiest to eat. The food guide describes six main food groups: meat (like fish and chicken), dairy (like milk and cheese), grains (like bread and rice), fruit, and vegetables. The last group is fats and sweets. The USDA also suggests (建议) how much of each food group is healthy to eat daily. Though this guide was prepared by the US government, it is very useful for people all over the world.
As a result of years of study, we know that too much animal fat is bad for our health. For example, Americans eat a lot of meat and only a small amount (量) of grains, fruit and vegetables. Because of the way they eat, they have a high rate (率) of cancer (癌症) and heart disease. In Japan, people eat large amounts of grains and very little meat. The Japanese also have a very low rate of cancer and heart disease. The Japanese live longer than anyone else in the world. However, when Japanese people move to the US, the rate of heart disease and cancer goes up as their eating habit changes. And as hamburgers, ice creams and other high-fat foods become popular in Japan, the rate of heart disease and cancer is going up there as well. People are also eating more meat and dairy food in other countries, in which the disease rate is going up alone with the change of the way people eat. Doctors everywhere suggest people eat more grains, fruit and vegetables and less meat and dairy food.
Eating healthily is important for children as well as their parents. When parents have poor eating habits, their children usually do, too. After all, children eat the same way as their parents. When parents eat healthy food, the children will learn to enjoy it, too. Then they will develop good eating habits. Doctors suggest parents give their children healthier food such as fruit, vegetables and juice.
Everyone wants to live a long, healthy life. We know that the food we eat affects (影响) us in different ways. For example, doctors believe that fruit and vegetables can really protect people from many different diseases. On the other hand, animal fat can cause (引起) diseases. We can change our eating habits now and enjoy many years of healthy living.

Some people believe that schools will no longer be necessary in the near future. They say that because of the Internet and other new technology,there is no longer any need for school buildings,classes or teachers. Perhaps this will be true one day,but if the world has no schools,I can't imagine how our society will be. In fact,we should learn how to use new technology to make schools better. We should invent a new kind of school that is linked(链接) to libraries,museums,science centres,labs and even companies. Technological companies should create(创造) learning programs for schools.
