Yao Ming, the center of the Chinese National Men’s Basketball Team, served the Huston Rockets in the 2002 NBA. The 2.26 m, 120 kg center becomes the first one to come from a foreign team.
Yao Ming was born in Shanghai in September, 1980. His mother was a center and captain of the Chinese National Women’s Team. His father played basketball, too.
Yao Ming is widely known in China. He came to be a very important basketball player in China Basketball Association (联赛). It’s short for CBA. During the 2000～2001 season, he got 27. 1 scores for the Shanghai Oriental (东方) Sharks in every match.

Many children act in TV shows. They work several hours every day, so they can not go to regular (正规) school. How do they get an education(教育)?
In Hollywood many TV shows are made. About forty teachers give lessons for the children in the shows. They teach wherever their pupils are working. The teachers’ job is very important. They are responsible for (负责) making sure that the children work only the permitted (限制) hours each week. They are also responsible for making sure that children learn the required(需要) subjects.     IV.  This is a report in an English newspaper about city life in the United States. In many cities in the USA hundreds of people ride bikes to work every day. Some of these people have even formed a group called "Bike for a Better City". They ask people to ride bikes instead of driving cars so that the city may have cleaner air.
         For several years, this group has tried hard to get the city council to make life easier for bike riders. For example, they want the city council to build cycle paths on some of the busy streets. The council has not yet decided what to do. It wants to keep everyone happy. But, so far the only cycle paths that have been built are in parks. To this day the safest place to ride a bike may still be in the parks.
